Ely Cathedral Business Group believes that there is a strong correlation between the health of the business sector, and the well being of the communities in which those businesses operate.
ECBG has been established to get local business people together and to get them thinking and talking about things that matter. Local business leaders are invited to present to the group to share thoughts and experiences to promote discussion and support each other. To present on how businesses can be more involved in the community through work experience was a great opportunity.
Organisations such as Fairtrain can provide you with all the documentation and support that you need to get up and running with a structured work experience programme that is not just a week of making the tea and filing! A good work experience programme should cover many different facets of the company and/or role to give a rounded view of the world of work and help the student build “soft skills” such as communication skills, confidence, team work and problem solving.
It was great to be able to discuss with local businesses Emerald Frog’s experiences of getting involved with local schools to deliver work experience, workshops and take part in careers events.
If you are a business in East Cambs and would like a copy of the presentation then please contact us.
The next Ely Cathedral Business Group meeting is:
Monday 26 June 6.30pm, The Royal Standard Pub, Ely
Patrick Neate Brexit, 12 months on
Fifteen months ago, there was a lively debate in Ely Cathedral, organised by the Ely Cathedral Business Group, which ended firmly in favour of remaining in the E.U. We now find ourselves, twelve months after the vote, along the exit road three months after the start of negotiations.
