Emerald Frog Marketing was happy to take part in the East Cambridgeshire Skills and Careers Fair 2014 at The Maltings in Ely on October 16th where we spoke with year 11 and sixth formers about their career options, gave an insight into the world of PR and marketing and talked about qualifications and experience required.
The event was opened by Ely’s Mayor, Councillor Lis Every, and over 1000 students from colleges including Ely College, Witchford Village College, Bottisham Village College and Soham Village College met with over 50 businesses from across the district. The aim of the fair was to raise the aspirations of local youngsters and provide them with food for thought about the careers option on their doorstep. Likewise, for local businesses, we want to make sure that the local jobs pool has the skills required for the region’s own economic development.
We showed examples of some of the PR, advertising and creative work Emerald Frog Marketing has done, as well as demonstrated the importance of recognisable branding with two interactive an fun exercises for the students. One was to match the famous logo with the slogan and identify the company, and the other was a very popular chocolate bar logo quiz (amazing hardly anyone has had a Walnut Whip though, we thought! Made us feel very old!).
We were very impressed with the event which was very well organised and met some real shining star students who were keen to know more about the world of work that soon awaits!
