The leisure industry and fitness marketing is a sector we have strong credentials in, so we took a road trip last week to the biggest event in the UK fitness industry’s calendar, Leisure Industry Week (LIW), at the NEC in Birmingham.
The show always has a real buzz about it, which is why we enjoy working with this industry so much. We’ve spent many a year at LIW whilst we worked on the client side for one of the UK’s biggest fitness equipment suppliers, so it was great have the opportunity to attend as a visitor this year and fully absorb everything this huge show has to offer.
Exhibitors at LIW ranged from health and fitness equipment suppliers, training providers, trade press, sports retailers and leisure IT solutions, providing a range of lively demos and engaging information about their products and services. The event was also supported by a comprehensive education programme across three theatres, including seminars from keynote speakers such as ukactive, FitPro and RoSPA. As always, there was tiny bit of celebrity spotting, with big sporting names such as Andre Agassi, James Haskell and Ricky Hatton appearing at the show.
It was good to meet new businesses and also great to catch up with friends at Jordan Fitness, Matrix Fitness, Life Fitness, Octane Fitness, the various trade press publications and also drop by to see Zoggs – who were proudly displaying the award we presented to them at the Sports Trade Awards earlier in the year.
And it’s always a bonus to be grabbed by a group of willing masseuses all clambering to give you a ten minute head, back and shoulder massage leaving you feeling floaty light – ideal after a busy day of standing and chatting!
