Thai Street Café, in Newmarket, Suffolk, has introduced popular, gluten-free, Barenaked Noodles with a range of specially created dishes to complement their existing menu. The launch, held at Thai Street Cafe, was attended by the Thai Street team; Dragons’ Den winner and Barenaked Foods’ Managing Director, Ross Mendham; welterweight boxer and personal trainer, Pat McAleese; along with local nutritionists and press to celebrate the wider menu choice available to their regular clientele and encourage new customers through the doors.

Barenaked Noodles can be used as a replacement for rice, noodles and pasta in a variety of dishes. In August 2013, Barenaked Foods’ Managing Director, Ross Mendham, appeared on BBC television programme Dragons’ Den and, after a dramatic pitch, secured investment from entrepreneur Peter Jones as business partner.

Containing only 8 calories per 100g, Vegetarian Society approved and gluten-free, Barenaked Noodles are made using the Asian-grown Konjac plant; a miracle plant low in carbohydrates, sugar and calories.

The award-winning restaurant, has put together a menu specifically to meet the growing demand of coeliacs, those following a gluten-free diet, and also to appeal to customers who wish to choose a lower fat  or lower calorie option.

Joe Baron, Co-owner at Thai Street Café says, “We are thrilled to be the first restaurant in the region to offer this revolutionary meal on our menu, and with a large percentage of our customer demographic being health-conscious females; we are positive that the new choices available to them will be a huge success.”

Barenaked Foods has helped to design and develop the new menu at Thai Street Café and has also created a feedback form, to give customers the opportunity to have their say on the new dishes.

Ross Mendham, Managing Director at Barenaked Foods says, “Thai Street Café is a delightful restaurant offering authentic Thai Food, the perfect platform for our products. We are looking forward to supporting Thai Street’s owners Joe and Chris with the launch of their new menu, and we have developed a set of marketing materials that can be used to promote the benefits of our products to their customers.

Joe continues, “Thai Street Café is the restaurant of choice to many local sportsmen and women and being able to offer a menu that is in keeping with their nutritional plan, but without compromising on taste, is our main goal.”
